La Liga Sacyr Asobal and Liga Guerreras Iberdrola will begin the weekend of September 11 and 12, as approved by the General Assembly of the Spanish Handball Federation (RFEBM). The season will open with the two Spanish Super Cups, which will be played jointly in a single venue and on the 4th of that month. The Copa del Rey It has scheduled dates of March 25 to 27, 2020 and the Queen’s Cup, from April 29 to May 1. The Men’s Silver Honor Division kick off the weekend of September 25 and 26.
The Assembly, has been common in recent years, approved by a large majority the proposals that passed the filter, most of them presented by the RFEBM itself. Thus the approval was given at the close of the last financial year, with a modest surplus of 39,872 euros, and a budget for 2021 amounting to 22.8 million euros, of which 12.3 correspond to the regular budget and 10.1 to the cost of organizing the Women’s World Cup to be played in December in Spain.
Regarding Asobal League competitions, which in past assemblies were the subject of discord between the Federation and the Club Association, approved the new agreement agreed between both organizations, at the expense of it being endorsed by the Asobal assembly. The Federation recovers the image rights of the Copa del Rey and the men’s Super Cup, a competition that it also organizes. The clubs that participate in the League must be part of the Asobal, as happened until a year ago.
Women’s competitions are also restructured so that the Iberdrola Guerreras League will be reduced to 12 teams in the 2022-23 season, with the reduction of four clubs in which to start next September. This was one of the points that elicited the most rejection, with 12 photos against and 71 in favor.
