the application dedicated to people with cognitive disorders and their caregivers

What if an application made it possible to recreate the link between people with cognitive disorders and their caregivers? This is the idea that Stéphanie Herrbach had two years ago when creating Helpy. The project follows the detection of her mother’s Alzheimer’s disease. “I had to look for solutions for myself, to understand how the disease works. I realized that thanks to the games we were able to recreate the link, to have fun.” Since then, the founder has met many players specializing in video games and created her start up. With her associates, she has developed nearly ten games. Among them, an emotion mime game, a general culture quiz or a customizable puzzle with photos of loved ones. A concept that allows memory work linked to memory.

A test phase supported by TASDA

A few months before the launch of the application, the TASDA (Technopôle Alpes Santé à Domicile et Autonomie) wanted to support it in testing Helpy with home helpers pairs. Yannick Fouquet is the project manager of TASDA, it is he who takes care of inscriptions. “We are looking for ten caregivers who have an Android digital tablet at home so they can play together.” The test will last four months with a questionnaire to be completed at the start and end of the experiment. “We want to see if the caregiver-caregiver relationship improves, if the load felt by the caregiver changes in a positive way and if the pairs manage to take ownership of the application.” After this test phase, the founders of Helpy are planning a final version at the end of 2021 that they will be able to offer to all users.
