Books – Bahaa Hegazy:
Today, the audience of the late artist Mohsen Tawfiq celebrates her 80th birthday.
Mohsen Tawfiq was born on December 29, 1939, she obtained a Bachelor of Agriculture in 1968, and she knew her artistic cooperation with the late director Youssef Chahine in a group of his most prominent works: (Alexandria Leh, Al Asfour, Farewell O Bonaparte), and in this report we monitor the tales of the improved artist reconcile..,
Technical start
Mohsen Tawfiq is one of the artists who was interested in presenting the qualification as a quantum. She was also distinguished by the role of “Bahia” in the movie “The Sparrow” directed by Youssef Chahine, and “Bahia” became a symbol of patriotism and a symbol of Egypt, to embody at the end of the film by her cry as she says “No, we will fight, no, we will fight” the desire of the Egyptian people to struggle after stepping down Jamal Abdel Nasser on the authority, and Bahia became famous through the words of Ahmed Fouad Najm in the song “Egypt Yama Ya Bahia”, and she is the sister of the media, Fadila Tawfiq, who is famous for the sake of Abla Fadila, the most famous broadcaster for children’s programs in Egypt.
Crying and crutch
The Aswan Festival for Women, in its third session, headed by Mohamed Abdel-Khalek, was keen to honor the artist, Mohsen Tawfiq, the last honor she received in her life, which was last February.
Mohsen Tawfiq, the great star, cried after her name was called by the media, Jasmine Taha Zaki, the presenter of the opening ceremony of the Aswan Festival.
The audience continued to applaud the big artist in appreciation of her artistic history, and the audience did not know that the artist would leave after 3 months of this party.
Late honors
The critic, Tariq Al-Shennawi, confirmed that the late artist Mohsen Tawfiq was one of the artists known for her depth in her work, despite her shortage, which is “a flash capable of radiating even from a puncture of a needle.”
Al-Shennawi said in statements to Masrawy, that Mohsen Tawfiq was few in her artistic works, and was associated with the theater by the late Karam Mutawa before his marriage to the artist Suhair Morshedy, and with the cinema was linked to the late director Youssef Chahine.
He added, Mohsen has very important films in the history of Egyptian drama, and the cinema missed a style like “Mohsen Tawfiq,” noting that Mohsen’s predicament was that she deserved a greater position in the cinema but did not find it.
He added that she did not get the honor she deserved in her life, and the honor of the Aswan Festival came to her in the last moments of her life as a kind of fulfillment of her for the works she provided.
Nubian origins
“I stand behind my grandfather for my mother, Haji Muhammad Ismail, and my Nubian family.” A comment written by the late artist Mohsen Tawfiq on her Facebook page, accompanied by a family portrait in the middle, in reference to her Nubian roots on the mother’s side.
The poet Osama Farhat, “The son of aunt, the artist Mohsen Tawfiq,” revealed in a previous statement to “Masrawy” the details of the image and the Nubian roots for her, and he said: “Indeed, the late artist, as I mentioned in her commentary, has Nubian roots on the side of her mother, Mrs. Fatima Mohamed, who is from the village (Mashkila In Dongola, Sudan, the village to which our grandfather (Haji Muhammad Ismail) belongs, which appears at the heart of the picture, Muhsin stands behind him, and I sit at his right.
Farhat adds: “Our grandfather had come to Egypt to study in Al-Azhar, before moving to work as headmaster of agriculture for the royal family, specifically Abbas Hilmi II, after he settled in Egypt.”
The poet returns to the picture, and says: “It was taken to us in the tombs of the royal family of Imam Al-Shafi’i in the castle, also known as (Hosh al-Basha), and she – may God have mercy on her – always cherished its Nubian roots, and visited Sudan almost once.”
Death and absence of artists
Mohsen Tawfiq died on May 7, 2019, and the stars of the artistic community were absent from her funeral, but only artist Salwa Othman, Salwa Muhammad Ali and Dr. Ashraf Zaki attended, which shocked the fans of the late artist.
Salwa Mohamed Ali added that she attended the funeral of the late artist because she is her friend, and said that she does not know the reason for the absence of the artists from the funeral, but perhaps because it happened suddenly, as the late artist died in the early hours of the morning, and the funeral took place this afternoon, adding: “It is not possible That artists miss a friendly funeral, especially since the entire artistic community is one family. ”
With the absence of the artists from the funeral of Mohsen Tawfiq, her condolences witnessed a great turnout from intellectuals and politicians, as a large number of stars of politics, culture and art participated, and the writer Jamal Fahmy, the artist Sami Maghawry, the media Mahmoud Saad, the writer Abdullah Al-Sennawi, Ahdi Sadiq, and others attended.
