The president of Argentina, Alberto Fernandez, was keen to advise his compatriot Lionel Messi, the Barcelona star, to return to his first team, Newell’s Old Boys, in which he started his career.
Messi had informed the Barcelona administration of his desire to leave the Camp Nou, to cause a sensation around the world and the largest clubs, especially in Europe, are racing to include the living legend.
Messi played for Newell’s Old Boys before joining Barcelona’s Lamcia Academy at the age of 14.
“You are in all our hearts and we have never seen you play on our soil, so give us the pleasure of seeing you play here, in Newell’s Old Boys, your club,” the Argentine president said in televised remarks. He added, “If Messi does not end his career in Barcelona, he must end it in Newell’s Old Boys.”
