The Iris Festival will not only take place in Brussels this weekend. Indeed, for the first time, an Iris festival will also be held in New York on Sunday May 8 under the slogan “There is more Brussels in New York than you might think“and during which Brussels will be honoured, the organizers announced on Friday.
New York’s version of the Iris Festival will be held Sunday from 12 to 3 p.m. in the Brooklyn Grange in Sunset Park.
During this event, visitors will be able to taste typical Belgian products such as beer, waffles and chocolate. Important Brussels companies will also be honoured. American visitors to the Iris Festival can also hope to win a trip to Brussels.
The Belgian capital also wants to present itself to New York as a sustainable and circular city that pays great attention to climate issues. This is why the Brooklyn Grange, which promotes a sustainable urban lifestyle through the creation of green spaces, was chosen.
In Brussels, the Iris Festival will return after a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic. It will be celebrated on Saturday 7 and 8 May with walks, food trucks and shows in the parks and neighborhoods of the capital.
