The first country in Europe to lift all quarantine restrictions was Iceland. The decision came into force on June 26.
As writes Daily Mail, the state will even abolish the mandatory wearing of masks and the observance of the distance between people. The corresponding recommendations were previously given by the country’s chief epidemiologist, Torolfur Gunason.
“We are returning society to its usual life,” Minister of Health Svandis Svavarsdottir commented on the decision.
According to him, Iceland became the first country in Europe to take such a step.
Also from July 1, Iceland will cancel testing at its border for tourists who have vaccination certificates.
Note that during the pandemic in Iceland, whose population is 343.4 thousand people, 6,637 cases of infection were recorded. At the same time, 6,595 patients recovered and 30 died.
