The 61st Valais Fair is postponed to 2021

Main economic event of the year in Valais and in French-speaking Switzerland, the Foire du Valais 2020 will not take place. It will therefore be necessary to wait for the fall of 2021 to participate in the 61st edition. Long awaited, the decision, proposed by the FVS Group committee, in consultation with the city of Martigny and the State of Valais, was ratified by the extraordinary general meeting of the FVS Group.

After a 60th record edition, in autumn 2019, with more than 233,000 visitors, the 2020 edition promised to be just as exceptional. But the pandemic has decided otherwise, emphasizes Vincent Claivaz, president of the FVS Group: “The situation projected in autumn 2020 linked to the problem of the Covid-19 prevents the holding, in good conditions, of the Valais Fair.”

The postponement of this 61st edition will have a strong impact on all the partners of the fair – exhibitors, traders, restaurateurs, hoteliers, winemakers, companies responsible for assembling infrastructures – but also the FVS Group itself. “As an event player, we are badly affected by the coronavirus crisis. The postponement of the fair alone will cost us 1.8 million francs, ”announces general manager David Genolet.

Even if the Valais Fair will not take place in 2020, the FVS Group committee invites everyone to book the dates from October 2 to 11 for a “Limited Edition”. “The details of the operation will be revealed in July, but it will be a series of events adapted around gastronomy, music and the region.”
