A Tonneau breakthrough? This is what should flow naturally this Sunday, February 27, during the Allier 2022 mountain bike championships in Montluçon, on the Ferme des Réaux website. Indeed, among the five races of the day, the young Mathis Tonneau (20 years old), from the organizing club Horizon Montluçon, will be the favorite on the 32.9 kilometer event reserved for masters, seniors and hopefuls. He who is part of the UCI world circuit.
The participants
“It will be the Headlining, even if there are also two or three elite runners from Puy-de-Dôme”, specifies his father and president of the said club, Christophe Tonneau. Because, yes, although support for the departmental championship, this competition is accessible to other departments. “It’s the opening of the MTB season, so many come to test themselves ».
Combine of course, but also Puy-de-Dôme, Cher, Creuse or Cantal… They will be about one hundred and fifty departures, this Sunday, all categories combined. And their menu will be copious: “The routes are both physical and technical,” confirms Christophe Tonneau. “There are loopholes, jumps, elevation…”. Short, “It’s always hard at the Réaux”. A bit like life on the Farm in short.
