A larger cluster of influenza A flu viruses can lurk up to 17 days for a new, potential victim on a banknote. This emerges from an investigation by a research group around the virologist Yves Thomas from the University Clinic in Geneva. An analysis from the “Journal of Infectious Disease” predicts that the pathogens have a “survival time” of around 48 hours on smooth plastic surfaces.
