The Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) found dozens of firearms and explosives on a sugar mill owned by Pryde Henry Teves. The recovered items were found in an underground stash and were buried ten feet under the vacant lot. The CIDG used a backhoe to dig and find the weapons. The recovered items include an RPG ammunition, Colt caliber .45 handgun, IEDs, and other assorted ammunition and components for improvised IEDs. An informant helped the CIDG in finding the weapons. The CIDG is looking at terrorism as a possible angle for the weapons’ recovery. Authorities have been searching the 50-hectare sugar mill since Friday and are still conducting the search as of writing Sunday. The CIDG has a witness who could testify that Teves allegedly ordered to hide the firearms and explosives underground. However, the former governor denied having anything to do with the confiscated items. He said he was ready to cooperate with authorities to trace their origins and their owners. The CIDG earlier clarified that the search was part of its campaign against illegally possessed firearms and explosives and had nothing to do with the murder case of former Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.
