Test streets for coronavirus at Van der Valk Urmond | 1Limburg

Test streets for the corona virus will be set up at the Van der Valk hotel in Urmond at the end of May. These test streets will be here so that the GGD can test anyone with corona-related complaints as of 1 June.

“At Van der Valk, we can scale up to 1,700 people a day,” said Christian Hoebe, head of Infectious Diseases of the GGD Zuid-Limburg, in conversation with L1 Radio.

Displacement
People are still being tested in Heerlen, but Urmond was chosen to scale up in an emergency. Hoebe does not immediately expect it to be necessary. “We now see about 70 people a day. For the time being, we think it is all doable. After all, we don’t see many people with complaints,” says Hoebe.

Limited space
The test location in Heerlen is too limited. That is why they divert to Urmond. There, up to 1,700 people can be tested for the corona virus every day. Hoebe does not expect a rush. From 1 June, people with complaints can have themselves tested for the coronavirus. According to Hoebe, the GGD is completely ready.

People who want to be tested must report to the GGD by telephone. This is done via a national number.
