Tesla will resume bitcoin transactions, Musk wrote. But he has a condition

Bitcoin, which is the largest and most famous cryptocurrency in the world, strengthened by more than five percent today at 20:10 Central European Summer Time, after Musk’s tweet, and its value was above $ 37,360 (over 780 thousand crowns). It has already gained 34.7 percent since January 4, the Reuters agency wrote.

Musk said that if the reasonable use of clean energy by the miners is confirmed, with a positive future trend, Tesla will renew the authorization of transactions. He called the amount 50 percent reasonable. He also announced that Tesla sold about ten percent of the bitcoins it owned.

This year, Musk has already significantly influenced the development of the bitcoin exchange rate several times with his statements. In February, he announced that Tesla had invested $ 1.5 billion in bitcoins and would begin accepting bitcoins as currency. The exchange rate then rose sharply to a new record.

In May, however, he surprised the markets again by announcing that Tesla would stop accepting bitcoins. He cited environmental considerations as a reason for the high amount of energy consumed in bitcoin mining. He added that he believes that cryptocurrencies have a promising future, but that this must not be at the expense of large environmental losses. Bitcoin responded to the statement with a decline of ten percent.

Musk assured him that Tesla would not sell the bitcoins she had bought. However, it caused a further drop in the exchange rate in the second half of May, when Musk did not clearly refute speculation on Twitter that Tesla was going to sell its remaining bitcoins or had already sold them. After the billionaire assured Tesla that she hadn’t got rid of any bitcoins, the exchange rate stabilized.
