The US electric car maker Tesla wants to take advantage of the good development of its share price and raise fresh money with a capital increase. Gross, including the over-allotment option, could generate up to around $ 2.3 billion, equivalent to € 2.11 billion, with the sale of new shares, as Tesla announced on Thursday before the US stock market launch.
Tesla boss Elon Musk plans to use the money to strengthen the group’s balance sheet and use it for general corporate purposes. Musk himself plans to contribute up to $ 10 million to the capital increase. Pre-IPO, the Tesla share slipped 4.5 percent on Thursday in New York.
In recent weeks, the share price had risen sharply due to the euphoria about good business figures and climbed to almost $ 969. At the end of 2019, the title was still at a good $ 418. Most recently, it had come back a bit from its high, but was still over $ 767 at the close on Wednesday.
