Tesla has just announced that it will start production of the Model Y, well ahead of the original schedule. First deliveries are expected in the North American market starting in March.

If he has gotten us used to long delays, Tesla now seems to be in control of his schedule. The Californian brand is even able to go faster than expected. First announced for late 2020, the Tesla Model Y will finally arrive more than six months in advance. Confirming rumors of the past few weeks, the Californian group officially confirmed that it started production of its new electric SUV in January during the presentation of its quarterly financial results.
First deliveries in March
The manufacturer has also updated its configurator, announcing deliveries from March for the North American market. A rise in power which will probably be gradual. For the Model 3, Tesla began by delivering its own employees to California before gradually expanding to the entire North American continent.
At this stage, this update does not seem to have hit Europe where the brand’s website continues to announce deliveries for early 2022. However, there is a good chance that this will evolve in the coming hours …
Increasing autonomy
The other good news is the increased range of the Model Y. ” Due to the continuous progress on the engineering and all-wheel drive (AWD) of the Model Y, we have been able to increase the maximum EPA range (estimated editor’s note) to 315 miles ” explains the press release from the manufacturer. This equates to more than 500 kilometers, a nice progression compared to the 280 miles (450 km) announced during the initial presentation of the vehicle, in March 2019.
