The highest version of the Tesla Model S electric sedan boasts several world championships.

It has been quite a long time since the introduction of the modernized Tesla Model S, but only now has the carmaker introduced its top version, the Model S Plaid, which has earned a special event. And you can’t be surprised that the top Model S Plaid offers truly remarkable technology.
But let’s start with the body itself, which boasts the lowest aerodynamic drag among production cars. The drag coefficient for the Model S Plaid should be 0.208, while the current champion Lucid Air boasted a value of 0.21. In addition to a special bodykit, the Model S Plaid also received a unique plaque on the right side of the boot.

Under the hood are stored three electric motors with a total output of 1,020 horsepower, thanks to which the car can accelerate from 0 to 96 km / h in less than two seconds. According to Tesla, this is the best accelerating production five-seater sedan in the world. The transmission is single-speed and allows you to reach a maximum speed of supposedly up to 200 miles per hour (approximately 322 km / h).
The power supply of the electric motors is taken care of by the most modern batteries produced by Tesla, which should ensure a maximum range of up to 390 miles (approx. 628 km) on a single charge. The company has also improved the fast charging system, which will allow the Supercharger to travel up to 301 km in just 15 minutes. Thanks to the heat pump, the carmaker also increased the range in winter by 30% and reduced the energy consumption of the ventilation system.
A modified steering wheel appeared in the interior, but still only in a U-shape, which should offer more comfortable control without distracting the driver. There is a 17 ”infotainment touch screen in the dashboard, while a smaller screen in the center tunnel is prepared for the rear passengers.
The carmaker also worked on the software of the car, which will now be able to “read minds”, as Musk suggested during the presentation. The car should be able to learn some of the habits of its driver, thanks to which it can, for example, automatically back out of the driveway at the house or leave the parking lot.

The carmaker also increased the emphasis on crew safety. “We believe it will have the lowest probability of injury to the crew of all the cars tested,” said Elon Musk during the presentation. Although the new Model S Plaid has not yet passed the NHTSA tests, as Tesla recalls, in the past several Tesla cars have already passed the tests with the highest rating.
But nothing is perfect. Shortly before the premiere of the Model S Plaid, Musk announced that Tesla would not introduce the Model S in the Plaid + version, which was to offer an even higher range. In addition, the standard Model S Plaid became more expensive by $ 10,000 before launch, so its price tag starts at $ 129,990 (approximately CZK 2,700,000). However, as Musk added at the end of the presentation – the new Model S Plaid should be “faster than any Porsche and safer than Volvo”.
