Tesco Stops Selling Physical Video Games: Transition to Digital Format

British supermarket chain Tescowhich has over 2,800 stores nationwide, is no longer selling physical copies of video games.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, the retailer will stop selling games in boxes after all available stock is sold out. Tesco justified the decision by the fact that the network’s customers began to switch to the purchase of entertainment content in digital format. At the same time, Tesco stores introduced large discounts on games earlier this year.

In February, the retailer sold Deathloop and Call of Duty: Vanguard for the price of everything £5a Pokemon Legends Arceus and Super Mario 3D World were available on £20.

After physical games cease to be sold, Tesco will continue to sell payment cards that can be used to purchase digital games. PS Store, Microsoft Store and eShop.
