Tenth Edition of the Dominican Film Festival in New York will be in October

New York- Under the slogan “History that make us dream” the organizers of the 10th Edition of the Dominican Film Festival in New York, known by its acronym in English as DFFNYC, officially announce to all those interested in participating that the call for entries is now open . This 10th. edition will be held in October 2021.

The DFFNYC intends to recognize and disseminate the best of Dominican cinematography abroad and will dedicate its 10th. edition will be dedicated to the new independent directors of Dominican cinematography with the slogan “New Voices”. The festival invites Dominican filmmakers and filmmakers and those from the Dominican diaspora to submit their cinematographic works, feature films, documentaries and short films, to be considered by the Festival’s selection committee in its 10th edition.

The deadline for submission of cinematographic works is Monday, May 3, 2021. All films must be released at least in New York and with English subtitles. Likewise, the DFFNYC will have new parallel sections “Crossing Borders: Dominican Cinema in Co-produced between Latin American countries and Europe”, “Women on the Edge” dedicated to the new generation of Dominican female directors; “New voices” shows of Dominican short films and “Volver; a Mirar”, among others.

This parallel exhibition within the DFFNYC will enrich the artistic experience of the enormous cultural diversity of New York City, which includes a large constellation of Latinos with roots and ties from 21 countries, and at the same time promote Dominican culture through Armando Guareño, founder and director of the Festival, ended by saying about our cinema.

The DFFNYC has become the most important Latino Film Festival in the United States, and is recognized by the United States Congress and by the State of New York. The proposal for this 10th. Edition is renewed, with new proposals, different exhibitions and parallel retrospectives.

The basic mission of the Dominican Film Festival in New York (DFFNYC) is to promote the film industry to the new generation of film directors, as well as those already established, and to strengthen the vital and growing economic and cultural relationship with the United States.
