Accordingly, in order not to change their voices during puberty, they were castrated. No testicles – no testosterone. If you wonder what a modern castrato looks like, it is enough to imagine one of our politicians. Whoever it is…
Our native elected representatives are more bent than ever, and their enthusiasm to work is exhausted only to the uncomplaining execution of the orders, which most often come from some High Gate, but in a modern version – Brussels, Moscow, Washington. Even before we gnash our teeth from any direction, our politicians try to anticipate the direction of the thoughts and desires of the big bosses and rush to show that they have listened in class by being ahead of everyone in the implementation of every directive, every stupidity that coming from that direction. In fact, “stupidity” is a very poor definition for the absolute decisions that undermine our national dignity and economy.
Take Schengen for example. Instead of letting us into space a long time ago, Austria imposed a veto on us and Romania on the expansion, which, however, provoked a response from our northern neighbor – it blocked Austria’s participation in NATO meetings. Moreover, our neighbors are adamant that the diplomatic way is not enough and other ways should be sought, and the Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Călăcu said: “As long as I am Prime Minister, I will not accept that the Austrian Chancellor is a hypocrite and continues to humiliate Romania”.
Can you imagine our politician coming out with such words aimed at a country or a foreign ruler who in one way or another hinders an important decision for us? At least in words, because to think that it is possible to react in a way similar to that of Romania is utopia. Well, ours have bent lower than grass, hoping to receive another portion: “Bravo”. They just don’t feel that there will be no pat on the shoulder, for no other reason than because in the position they have taken, only the sole of those they bow to can reach them.
And the so-called A green deal? After it was passed, we made a commitment to phase out the use of coal for electricity generation by 2038 and to reduce our power plant capacity by 80% by 2030. In other words, a 40% reduction in emissions by 2025, at least a 55% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and zero emissions into the atmosphere by 2050. Unlike us, as always happens, others strongly opposed these deadlines, with Poland agreeing to TPP to work until 2049.
From a net exporter, and in the top 3, we will turn into an importer of electricity, but none of the disrespectful falsettos come out and admit this. On the contrary, they stop to explain to us that there would have been no problems because we would have unlocked a huge “green potential” of the affected coal areas – solar systems, hydrogen valleys, alternative economic activities. It sounds great in words, but in reality, no one gives us guarantees that this is possible, nor that retraining such a large number of unemployed people, and mostly older people, will be feasible.
Switching to an alternative fuel in the thermal power plants is absolutely impossible, because according to specialists from the “Maritsa-East” complex – “without a complete replacement of the heat exchange system, it is not possible for them to work”.
And why are the eyes turned mainly to countries like ours, when the biggest (factually and indisputably proven) polluters – China, the USA, India, Russia, are in no way affected by the “necessities” imposed on them?
It is extremely clear that our rulers do not dare, do not want, do not know how to protect the interests of Bulgaria, condemning entire regions – Stara Zagora, Kyustendilsko, Pernishko – to unemployment, emigration and hunger in the near future. Of course, for this service to them, the higher ups will be rewarded, with their relatives and companies becoming very, very rich.
And speaking of ecology, of the Green Deal, of coal pollution, how many people and paid eco-activists are aware that there will be new, just different pollution, because coal mines will be closed, but coal mines will be opened for… for example rare metals. Another idea is to replace the thermal power plants with photovoltaic parks, however, the waste that is created on the already unnecessary panels will be huge, because they contain the extremely dangerous and harmful lead and cadmium. And what kind of panels were installed in our country, where were they imported from, whether they were to be thrown away because their service life has expired somewhere in the world, but we were happy with them here, absolutely no one knows, does not monitor, there are no such statistics. However, have you heard this from any of our politicians? Well, their potential is not that high, in fact, it mostly comes down to falsetto singing in the general choir of castrati.
Progress is inevitable, that’s a fact – to a large extent it also applies to coal. The question is when and how. An alternative could be nuclear power. But the situation is not rosy there either – for better or for worse, the Belene NPP has sunk into oblivion, and the construction of a new 7th (there is also talk of an 8th) power unit in Kozloduy has been delayed for years. Until now, our government has not paid serious attention to these possibilities, and the energy and economic development in this direction seems to be a taboo topic for native falsettos. Have you heard of any long-term strategy in this direction, that tens, hundreds, according to some – thousands of engineers are needed to work on the construction and operation of new nuclear facilities? Has anyone, somewhere, in any university planned the training of such specialists in the future?
Which of our native rulers do you think is the best, and what will he leave behind? They live day by day, like some poor drunk who just prays to have a bottle of alcohol and tonight, tomorrow is for tomorrow. Well, yes, in the role of the bottle, for our rulers is the full bank account today. Whether they will not be travelers tomorrow, what they will leave to their country, whether their children and grandchildren will have a future here, these are not questions whose answers interest them.
Some decisions are really inevitable, everything has its price, priorities change. But smart statesmen derive benefits for their people, and do not think small, nor do they wonder where and in front of whom they can bend their legs or their backs. We simply do not have statesmen, but temporary incompetents in power. And peddlers, terrible peddlers, for whom words and expressions such as fatherland, prosperity of the Bulgarians, leading positions in this or that field, successes for our country – are not important. Of course, the questions at the top are our choices and our mistakes. They are not automatically installed, and we, due to naivety or apathy, give them all the levers of control, and then we start to complain pitifully, pitifully.
Probably the only thing left for us, because apparently we can do so much and our ambitions reach this level – a comfortable life, eating and drinking at the table and a TV in front of which we can see what kind of idiots are at the head of our country, is to recall the history from the beginning – if nothing else, our rulers are excellent falsettos whose performances we all pay for.
