Almost eight months after the devastating passage of bad weather Daniel, Thessaly is trying to heal its wounds. However, on the famous bridge of Agia Paraskevi in Tempi, the images are heartbreaking. Where time seems to be frozen with the bridge “falling” apart, teetering. As you will see in the documentonews.gr photos, it is hanging from a few wires.
Last September, the level of the Pinion reached 18 meters, the same as the height of the bridge, which was used to cross – mainly pilgrims – across from the small church, causing enormous damage. Over time, the bridge has been a point of reference for passing drivers from the Old National Road to enjoy nature.

However, the photographs, to this day, are indicative of the situation. As one can notice, apart from the half-collapsed bridge, floating materials, branches and tree trunks are in the water.
The overflow with Daniel
During the bad weather Daniel, the Pinios “swelled”, the rushing waters reached 18 meters, sweeping away the bridge, parts of which were found several kilometers away.
60 year old bridge
Work on the construction of the bridge began in 1959 and was completed in 1960. The deck is, even now, at a height of 18 meters. The goal was to connect the two banks of the river and lead to the small church of Agia Paraskevi, which is not the case now as it is impossible to cross it.
It has a total length of 210 meters and a width of 14.
After the bad weather, there was a ping pong of blame for its reconstruction. Almost eight months later, she remains “wounded”.
