Taxi drivers will take locals to see the lights of the capital safely this Christmas
- The Madrid Professional Taxi Federation (FPTM), through its radio station Tele-Taxi, launches the campaign “We take you to see the Christmas lights”, with which it strengthens its social commitment this Christmas marked by the pandemic
- Through this initiative, taxi drivers will pick up users at the point inside the M-30 that they indicate and will take them on a journey of approximately 40 minutes through the most emblematic streets of the city
The Madrid Professional Taxi Federation (FPTM), through your radio Tele-Taxi station, this year will bring the Christmas lights safely to Madrid, through tours of the most emblematic streets of the capital.
They will do so within the framework of the initiative “We take you to see the Christmas lights”, Launched this year for the first time in response to the especially difficult circumstances of Christmas 2020 as a result of the pandemic.

“Our intention is that all citizens, especially those with greater risk, have the opportunity to take a tour of some of the streets of the city that have a more striking decoration, avoiding having to wait in lines or use public transport,” he explains the person in charge of Tele-Taxi and member of the Board of Directors of the FPTM, Marcos Rodriguez.
Through this initiative, it will work on a scheduled basis, taxi drivers will pick up users at the place indicated within the M-30 and will take them to the brightest streets to make a journey of approximately 40 minutes, then returning to the starting point.
It is a service that can be accessed on a scheduled basis with a maximum pre-contracted rate of 40 euros. “At the end of the journey, the user will pay the amount marked by the meter, as long as it is less than 40 euros, because if it is higher, the pre-contracted rate of 40 euros will be paid,” explains Rodríguez.
The price will be the same regardless of the people who request it for the same trip, which, due to current limitations, will be 6 in large vehicles.
The Plaza de Carlos V, the Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Recoletos, Colón, the Paseo de la Castellana, Ortega y Gasset, Serrano, the Plaza de la Independencia, Alcalá, Alfonso XII and the Plaza de Carlos V, are some of the points through which the tour will pass.
This initiative strengthens the commitment of a sector that every Christmas shows its most social side with toy collections or solidarity parades, among other initiatives.
“In these special Christmases, in which other actions have had to stay aside due to circumstances, we did not want to stop contributing our grain of sand to bring the spirit of these dates closer to the citizens.”
Recall that the taxi was making thousands of free transfers of health personnel during the first state of alarm, even rejecting subsidies for fuel and derived from its activity, which at the time amounted to a total of more than 260,000 euros and that they were destined, at the request of these associations, to the acquisition of sanitary material for the public sanitary centers of the capital.
