the elections in Chartres, Vierzon and Saint-Jean-de-la Ruelle confirmed by the administrative court

The administrative court of Orleans made public several decisions on December 30, concerning the results of the municipal contested in several municipalities in the region. All the appeals were either dismissed or resulted in a dismissal.

We will not vote again at Saint-Jean-de-la Ruelle, nor at the Chapelle Saint-Mesmin, Vierzon, Gien, Chartres or Chambray-lès-Tours. Seized by the unfortunate lists of several cities concerned, in a context where the confinement resulted in a high rate of abstention, the administrative court of Orleans made public several decisions taken in court on December 17.

The health context in question

These come to close electoral soap operas, some of which had lasted since March 15. Indeed, several lists have estimated that the health context, by fueling the fears of voters and prolonging by several months between two rounds, weighed heavily on the electoral result, resulting in extremely tight scores depending on the place, or on the contrary very clear cut.

This was the case with the appeal of Christelle de Crémiers (EELV) to Gien, where the candidate felt that the ballot had not been free because of the confinement: she finally withdrew and the administrative tribunal took note of her disclaimer. Likewise, in Vierzon, where the outgoing mayor Nicolas Sansu (PCF) was elected in the first round with 50.18% of the vote, his opponent Christophe Doré (div.) Had issued a protest, rejected on December 17.

Elsewhere, it is in the use of propaganda deemed unfair that the defeated lists have found their arguments. Thus in Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle, in the Orleans area, the opponents of Christophe Chaillou (PS, re-elected in the first round at 72%) tried to support several arguments, including that of an abusive use of municipal newsletter by the outgoing mayor. Again, the appeal was dismissed.
