Targeting 3 Years, Xiaomi Ambitious to Be the Number 1 Mobile Phone Brand in the World

Suara.com – CEO and Founder Xiaomi, Lei Jun, announced that the company wants to become the world’s number one smartphone leader within the next three years.

This was announced by Lei Jun at the launch of the Xiaomi 12 series, MIUI 13, and several other new devices that were held in China a few days ago.

Xiaomi’s ambition is actually not the first time it has been shown.

Last November, Senior Vice President of Xiaomi Group China and GM of Redmi Lu Weibing announced it on Chinese social media, Weibo.

At that time, Weibing explained that Lei Jun had targeted Xiaomi smartphone sales to be number one in the world by 2024.

Xiaomi’s initial steps to achieve this target started with their sales in China.

Because 70 percent of cell phone sales there are done through retail stores (offline).

That’s why Xiaomi plans to increase the retail outlet to 30,000 stores in the next three years.

The company also did not mention who their rivals were and focused more on making products that could compete with high-end phone models.

When viewed from Xiaomi’s track record, the Chinese company managed to overtake Apple in total global shipments.

That makes it brand the second largest cell phone in the world.

However, Xiaomi is back below Apple or ranked 3rd.

While at number one, Samsung, still continues to lead the list of the most mobile phone shipments in the world.

Citing reports Gizmochina, Thursday (12/30/2021), Xiaomi’s ambition could have happened because competitors from their own country, Huawei, were still blacklisted by the United States government.

Xiaomi phones are also likely to excel in the European market, where the region is still controlled by Samsung.
