PT Pertamina (Persero) President Commissioner Basuki Tjahja Purnama alias Ahok was open about how to eradicate oil and gas mafia in Indonesia. Ahok is actually speaking oil and gas mafia it is an insider.
They entered into an oil and gas import contract agreement into a short not long contract. According to him, this has weighed on the trade balance. Even though, as a large consumer, Pertamina should have a high bargaining price.
“That (oil and gas mafia) It’s just a term, in my opinion it’s a person inside. Lots of contracts are not made long term. In fact, as a large consumer of the Indonesian nation, we should bargain like that, “Ahok said in a talk show with Andy. F Noya, quoted Sunday (6/28/2020).
According to Ahok, Pertamina should be able to pressure importers to make long-term contracts and low prices. During this time, he considered Pertamina to import oil and gas expensive and sell too cheap so economic principles cannot work.
“I can sign the supplier supplier, I can ask for long-term contact, and the price is cheaper. We have been buying high-priced goods, not in accordance with economic principles, it’s reversed,” said Ahok.
Ahok said that he now asked Pertamina’s directors to restructure the company. Pertamina is now forming a subholding, with the hope that everyone can buy Pertamina shares and oversee the company’s performance openly.
“So we will finish the restructuring. We will lower it to subholding. We hope that the people, employees, Pertamina, can buy their shares, then we will stare,” said Ahok.
According to him, overseeing Pertamina is not easy, especially since the state-owned company has hundreds of children and grandchildren.
Ahok also told me, there was a grandson of the company who had made him a little upset. From his story, the grandson of the company was asked to explain about the investment of the refinery but was answered that Ahok did not need permission for that.
“When the grandson of the company is called the answer is lightly. Why invest so many tens of millions of dollars, the answer is lightly, we don’t need Komut’s permission anyway,” said Ahok.
“Luckily I have graduated from Mako, if I haven’t already stacked it,” he concluded.
