Taiwanese Pegatron will likely mass produce the Apple MR headphones in March next year

It is known that the MR (mixed reality) headset that supports both AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality) that Apple is developing will begin mass production in March next year.

Citing the Taiwanese DigiTimes on 8 (local time), foreign media reported that Apple has selected Pegatron as the final assembly partner for the MR headphones and plans to start mass production in March next year.

According to reports, Apple’s MR headset is expected to be mainly sold to the commercial market. Initial production is also very limited and prices will be very high, the source said.

Previous reports predicted that annual shipments of Apple’s MR headphones would reach 2.5 million units, but new reports suggest that annual shipments will be limited to around 700,000-800,000 units.

Combining the information received so far, it is understood that the development of the Apple MR headset is almost complete. It was also reported that Apple unveiled the MR headphones at the board meeting in May.

Apple’s MR headset is expected to be released under the “Reality Pro” brand. Powered by the same chip as the M1 Pro in the MacBook Pro, it will also include more than a dozen cameras that track hand movements, two ultra-high-resolution 8K displays, and advanced eye-tracking technology.
