During the online conference Impact Finance’20, Minister of Finance Tadeusz Kościński was asked if he is a supporter of electronic money.

The head of the Ministry of Finance said that as a citizen he wants to have freedom and be able to decide whether he wants to spend using cash, card, telephone or bank transfer. And as Finance Minister, he also wants society to be free and use money as it wants.

– I would like society to be able to pay electronically wherever it wants to – said Kościński. He added that everyone benefits from it, you can, for example, spend as much as you have on your account or within the limit, and not as much as you have in your wallet.

According to the Minister of Finance, there is still a long way to go to popularize electronic payments in Poland. As he said, there are over a million terminals in Poland where you can pay by card. He noted that in this respect we are in the European average. – Poles like various modern payment methods. We should increase the number of points where you can pay without cash – noted Tadeusz Kościński.

– The Church is a very large sector in Poland. We urge the Church to also consider accepting non-cash payments, said the minister.

According to the minister, the Church is losing out on non-acceptance of cashless payments, as more and more young people use electronic payment instruments, and more and more participate in online masses when they cannot give away. – The Church should somehow enable us to do this, look at it a little more actively – postulated the minister.

He added that he had not used cash in Poland for almost two years. – I can see that the Church is losing out on this and unfortunately the waiters are also losing out – noticed Kościński. He explained that he could not give “on the tray” without cash, and he could not reward the waiters without cash for very good service. – Personally, I do not agree to pay extra to the bill. I think that not necessarily those who should get this money – explained the head of the Ministry of Finance.
