Tadej Pogacar succeeded himself on Sunday as Slovenian time trial champion. UAE Emirates’ 21-year-old super talent was surprisingly nine seconds faster than Vuelta winner Primoz Roglic on the rainy 15.7 kilometer course.

A week ago the order was reversed at the Slovenian road championship. The difference with the other Slovenes was enormous. Jan Polanc finished third at 1 minute and 47 seconds from 21-year-old Pogacar.
Striking: Urska Zigart, Pogacar’s 23-year-old girlfriend, won among the women. She was third on the road but now pulverized the opposition in the time trial with a three-minute lead over the second.
“After my second place finish last week, it feels really good to return now and grab the win,” Pogacar commented on his team’s website. “It was a track that I knew very well and we often trained on it this week.”
“Jan (Polanc, red) showed that his shape is also very good,” Pogacar continued. “Last week he worked hard for me in the road race. It is also great fun for the team that he wins bronze. ”
