Sztutowo. A policeman from Mińsk Mazowiecki drowned, saving a 12-year-old girl

The tragedy occurred on the beach in Sztutowo in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. An officer from Mińsk Mazowiecki saved the girl, but disappeared under water. The commander in chief of the police and the capital commander expressed their condolences to the man’s family and relatives.

A 32-year-old from Mińsk Mazowiecki, who was resting with his family at the seaside in Sztutowo, started to save the drowning 12-year-old.

“Sam disappeared under the water”

– The man managed to save the girl, but he himself disappeared under the water – said Maciej Stęplewski from the press office of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Gdańsk.

Even though the beach-goers have formed a chain of life, it has not been found immediately. His body was fished out several dozen minutes later. The immediate resuscitation action was unsuccessful. As PAP found out on Thursday at the Provincial Police Headquarters in Gdańsk, the man drowned at around 1 p.m. on an unguarded beach.

A 32-year-old preventive officer from Mińsk Mazowiecki left his wife and orphaned an almost eighteen-year-old child. The relatives of the deceased officer are under the care of police psychologists.

“He died saving others lives!”

The commander-in-chief of the police and police officers from KGP gave condolences to the family and the closest ones.

“He died saving others lives! St. Sgt. Marcin Szpyruk from KSP saved a drowning child in the sea during his vacation. The Police Commander in Chief, General Jarosław Szymczyk, on behalf of himself, the management and all employees and policemen, expresses his sympathy to his family and relatives!” – wrote KGP on Twitter.

Also the commander of the Warsaw police and the Warsaw officers expressed their regret over the loss of a colleague. “We regret to inform you that this afternoon, Sergeant Major Marcin Szpyruk from the KPP in Mińsk Mazowiecki died. While on vacation, seeing a drowning child, he jumped into the water. Marcin, saving human life, disappeared under the water himself, completing the oath to the end “- KSP announced on Thursday on Twitter.

She added that Sgt. Marcin Szpyruk served in the police for six years and was associated with the capital garrison all this time. He was also awarded many times. From January 2018, he served the residents of Mińsk Mazowiecki. “To the family and relatives, expressions of regret and sympathy on behalf of himself and of the policemen and employees of the capital garrison are given by the Capital Commander of the Police, Chief Inspector, Paweł Dobrodziej” – wrote KSP.
