SZ series: The classes of 2021 – The nerves are bare – Munich

For a short time, many had concerns, including myself, whether the schools would be closed to everyone after the Easter break. But the graduating classes can still attend classroom teaching. So it’s good that the kits for the self-tests have finally arrived. There is a lot of debate about data protection, which can probably never be fully respected. But I think testing is absolutely necessary. The tests offer the best solution for safety and face-to-face teaching. Due to the high incidence, we will even test ourselves three times from next week. We are now about to take the exams and simply need face-to-face lessons to prepare.

It’s not nice to see how high the infection numbers are in Munich, but postponing exams even further is simply no longer possible. The constant new discussions about the Abitur classes stress us enormously. No matter in which Whatsapp group – the mood is charged. I find these discussions “hot air” and more than inappropriate. It puts us under additional pressure that we can’t really use at the moment. Unfortunately, the Ministry of Culture has once again not really thought through the planning. The exams have now been postponed a little. But just something. Now they start in the week after the Pentecost vacation. But what nobody considered: The grades of the second half of the year have to find their place. So we not only had to write down the missing work from the winter lockdown, we also have to cope with a full half-year between March and May and the exams.

Still, I’m happy to be able to at least go to school. The subways are so full that Corona doesn’t exist. Home office is probably a foreign word for many employers. But now I have been vaccinated and I have a better feeling on the way. The employees at my school who are willing to vaccinate have also received their pricks. We have many high-risk patients among the students, so many of them have already been vaccinated here. Even if all the outstanding exams are still waiting for us, the nights sleepless and we are at the end of our nerves and patience, the goal is visibly near. Now nothing can get in the way. I think otherwise many will drop out of school. The nerves are on edge.

I now know what a “luxury” we had during the Fachabis last year: We had at least one normal semester, no grades were made in the second and the exams felt faster and came towards us without any obstacles. This year a lot of things went wrong through politics, the grades are hardly adjusted to the pandemic and we have to tremble every day. What bothers me is that schools are simply forgotten between the pandemic and the election campaign. There are more acute problems right now instead of debating about anything that is in the distant future.

School graduation in times of Corona: Pupils from different types of schools write alternately: Maya Grombach, Theresia-Gerhardinger-Mädchenrealschule; Bara Chayah, Toni Pfülf Street Middle School; Niklas Krofta, Klenze High School; Lilli Schickel and Yannick Andricek, FOS on Barlachstrasse.
