Its main topic will be the questionnaire that was given to the members of i-SYRIZA to answer. Among other things, this included questions about whether SYRIZA should change its name and what political direction it should follow, without any other information being given beforehand.

We remind you that the 17 members are: Panagiota Beloni Arapi, Olga Gerovasili, Kostas Zachariadis, Thanasis Theocharopoulos, Zoe Karkoulia, Maria Kouveli, Katerina Notopoulou, Marilisa Xenogiannakopoulou, Nikos Pappas, Pavlos Polakis, Yannis Ragousis, Panos Rigas, Nikos Skorinis, Eleni Symeon see , Olympia Teligioridou, Dionysis Teboneras, Alekos Flambouraris.

Kasselakis will participate online

Stefanos Kasselakis is in London these days as part of his meetings with members of expatriate organizations and in fact on Monday afternoon he is scheduled to speak at the London School of Economics event.

Thus, his participation in the meeting will take place online.

Violent reactions

The reactions to Kasselakis’ moves are fierce and since Sunday morning, SYRIZA executives have made fiery statements regarding the President’s moves. The beginning was made by Mrs. Gerovasili who dismissed Stefanos Kasselakis, for the questionnaire, immediately requesting the extraordinary convening of the Political Secretariat as well as the Central Committee before the conference that will start on Thursday.

In Mrs. Gerovasili’s statement, there is a sharp comment: “The minimum I am obliged to do after all this is to immediately request the extraordinary convening of the party’s governing bodies, namely the Political Secretariat and the Central Committee, before the convening of the Congress. That is, before this de facto developed into a conference to dissolve the party that Alexis Tsipras brought to govern the country and which he handed over to his successor in the position of official opposition”.

Spirtzis: “To land in reality”

An attack against Mr. Kasselakis was launched by the former minister and executive of the official opposition party, Christos Spirtzis, calling on him to “land on reality” and clarifying that he is not going to fill in the questionnaire. Speaking to ERT, he described as unacceptable the fact “that the President has not submitted his positions on these issues to the party bodies”.

In fact, as he argued with this tactic “Mr. Kasselakis narrows the limit of SYRIZA. He wants to be either left or centre-left.” He described these things as not serious, calling on the party president to convene the party’s organs.

For his part, the executive of SYRIZA – PS, Panos Rigas, underlined that “five days before the top process of the 4th Congress of our party SYRIZA PS, unprecedented situations and procedures appear”.

According to Panos Rigas, the president of the official opposition party “must immediately take the initiative for consultation”.

Kasselakis insists

Despite the reactions, the President of the party with his post on social media seems to insist inviting everyone to enter the questionnaire in order to “strengthen the only alternative to the governmental dystopia, and support my effort”. “Since 2019, the progressive world has been shouting at us to ‘change everything'”, emphasizes Stefanos Kasselakis in his reply post.

“I encourage all SYRIZA members to fill out the questionnaire”, he emphasizes and adds that “your answers will help both me and the Party Organs in our decisions. We are not talking here about polls in news bulletins but about a process of intra-party democracy”.
