Switzerland to face RCF in Women’s Curling World Championship final

Defending champions Switzerland and the Russian Curling Federation (RCF) will meet in the final of the World Women’s Curling Championship after passing through their respective semi-finals in Calgary.

Switzerland, beaten by Silvana Tirinzoni, beat the United States 7-3 in the semifinals at WinSport Arena.

Tirinzoni took control of the game after stealing by two in the seventh set, giving his side a 6-2 lead.

Alina Kovaleva’s RCF track joined them in the final with an 8-7 victory over Sweden, ending Anna Hasselborg’s bid for her first world title.

Hasselborg’s Sweden advanced to the final four after an 8-3 win over Canada by Kerri Einarson.

Canada conceded at the end of the ninth set, after seeing Hasselborg’s side beat them twice on three occasions.

In the other qualifying match, American Tabitha Peterson took the final victory over Denmark’s Madeleine Dupont after scoring one with the hammer.
