Switzerland accepts further minors from Greece

That can be seen in the written answer to a question from National Councilor Isabelle Pasquier (Greens / GE). In view of the precarious situation in Greece, Switzerland has taken in 54 children and young people with connections to Switzerland from Greece since the beginning of the year.

The Federal Council announced earlier that it would take in around 20 children and young people from the burned down Moria camp on the island of Lesbos, regardless of any family ties. He was responding to a request from Germany.

The EU under the German Council Presidency began in September to organize the evacuation of around 400 unaccompanied children and young people to other European countries.

Travel preparations are currently underway for the roughly three dozen children and young people who are to travel from Greece to Switzerland in the next few weeks. The transfer is planned before the end of the year.
