The loop through Overijssel traditionally starts and ends in Rijssen, where there was still a large peloton left after 200 kilometers. VolkerWessels led that group of around seventy men, with the aim of driving Vermeltfoort to its third victory in a row in Overijssel. De Jong was the last pawn in the sprint train and dropped his teammate in the last hundreds of meters, but Vermeltfoort became boxed in and did not claim the win. Tresize was convincingly the fastest, the Israeli Oded Kogut finished in second place. De Jong came in fourth directly behind his teammate, so the 25-year-old Goese native narrowly missed out on a podium spot.
