Arjan Swinkels can look for a new club. The defender with the luxurious head of hair was told on Wednesday that his contract with KV Mechelen will not be extended, making him officially transfer-free.
The 35-year-old stopper played for Mechelen for two seasons and came to 54 league games for Malinwa. Before that, he also played for Beerschot-Wilrijk and Lierse in Belgium. In the Netherlands, Swinkels is best known for his seven-year period with Willem II, but he also played for Roda JC between 2014 and 2016. It is not yet clear where the central defender will continue his career.
In addition to Swinkels, Bram Castro, former goalkeeper of Heracles, Roda JC and MVV, is now also free of transfer. The Belgian goalie can therefore also look for another club. Tom Caluwé, technical director of Mechelen and formerly active in the Netherlands as a midfielder of Utrecht, thanks the players on the Mechelen website for proven services. “A title, the cup win and sixth place: these are incredible achievements these players have contributed to.”
End of the season and so some contracts expire.
