Since the beginning of the year, the “inventive spirit” has been intensified and planned. As part of the team, because for the spirit of invention, seven people have come together who, through their qualities and skills, somehow remind us of the feature film “Ocean’s Eleven” from Jülich, Merzenich and Aldenhoven.

Among other things, Youssef Samari takes care of communication, communication partners and marketing, the team’s appointments and also ensures that everyone is up to date. Julien Secker has an overview of the finances as well as possible grants and is good at using the computer. Fabian Pelikan takes care of the time management of the individual sub-projects, keeps an eye on the association’s statutes and tackles where there is a need. Fabian Engels describes himself as the theoretician of the “seven” and, as a law student, has tips ready when it comes to law. Viraj Soni is brand new and brings with him knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering. An advantage if at some point work is being carried out on the machines in the workshop. Roman Klamandt is also involved in IT and marketing. Karim Al Montassir, the initiator and first chairman of Ingenuity, completes the team by designing the structure of the project, doing the design as a product designer and integrating “ingenuity” with local partners.

They all have a common mission. A workspace is to be created under the motto “Together – Exchange – Research – Create”. “Ingenuity is a non-profit project in which you broaden your horizons and then really have something in your hand,” says Julien Secker, and Karim Al Montassir continues: “The project is actually the community that is involved. Anyone can come into the workshop and everyone learns from everyone. ”Viraj Soni also added:“ It’s also cool when you work with a lot of people. ”

Everyone is welcome in the workshop who is looking for an exchange and would like to develop ideas further. Whether a long-term project for which you are looking for input, or someone who just wants to “just take a look”. Older people impart proven knowledge, younger ones bring current trends with them – you benefit from the strengths of others and contribute something with your own abilities. A “space for people who want to be creative with technology”, says Fabian Pelikan, is to be created. There is still a long way to go before the project will be fully realized in some time. A workshop complex for metal, wood, prototyping, computer, textile and electrical work with room for correspondence and free thinking is to be created.

The members are currently in the process of becoming an eV, i.e. a registered association. Then the right premises have to be found; here, however, inventiveness is already under discussion.

In addition, there are already some cooperation partners on board at Inventergeist. Including the Science College Overbach. “We are supported by the Science College in founding it, and they also help us with the applications for funding,” says Karim Al Montassir. In addition, the workshops also take place on the premises of the Science College, provided they are not canceled due to Corona. The first point at which the inventive spirit of drawing paper also really comes into play is another cooperation with “CycleSpace”. Briefly to explain: “CycleSpace” is an open bicycle workshop, in which the construction of individual bicycles should also be made possible. “Ingenuity” is allowed to use the metal workshop of “CycleSpace”, which is also located at the Science College. The first ideas will probably soon be put into practice there. “That fits very well with the concept that we also have. With inventiveness, we want to put theory into practice, ”says Julien Secker.

The city of Jülich also supported them and arranged contacts, according to Al Montassir. Further cooperation partners are the technology center, hello creator and the thing factory.

The location in Jülich is also the right one. “There are already similar offers in Aachen and Cologne, but there is nothing like it here in the region,” said Al Montassir. Let’s see when the first innovations will emerge with inventiveness.
