Suzuki Hayabusa 25th Anniversary Edition: A Homage to the Legendary High-Speed Motorcycle

Hayabusa – everyone in the motorcycle scene knows this name. Suzuki’s flagship made its debut at Intermot in Germany in 1998 before hitting the market in 1999. It was the first speed bike to reach a top speed of over 300 km/h. This brought her worldwide fame. The model name Hayabusa was no coincidence: The now legendary Suzuki was named after the Japanese peregrine falcon, which can reach speeds of over 300 km/h in a nosedive.

Suzuki Hayabusa 25th Anniversary Edition

In 2023, after 25 years, Suzuki is celebrating the Hayabusa with a special model – the Hayabusa 25th Anniversary Edition. The technically unchanged basis for this is the Suzuki Hayabusa of the current, third generation. The water-cooled in-line four-cylinder engine with 1,340 cc works under the aerodynamically optimized fairing. Its Euro 5-compliant key data are: 190 hp (140 kW) at 9,700 rpm, 150 Nm at 7,000 rpm.

The Ram Air system promises a few extra horsepower at high speeds. As has been customary for years, the top speed of the anniversary model remains electronically limited to 299 km/h. The double-loop aluminum frame and the adjustable suspension components from Kayaba (KYB) ensure adequately stable handling. Likewise the Stylema brakes from Brembo. The third Hayabusa generation has a wide range of electronic assistants, such as cruise control or the bidirectional quickshifter. ABS and slip control, of course, each optimized for lean angles.

Homage to the legendary Suzuki

Externally, the Suzuki Hayabusa 25th Anniversary Edition catches the eye with the color combination of “Glass Blaze Orange” and “Glass Sparkle Black”. The tank features a raised, three-dimensional Suzuki logo, while the twin long mufflers feature the 25th anniversary logo bead-blasted engraving. There are also Hayabusa symbols and gold-coloured anodised accents, for example on the chain tensioner and the inner ring of the brake disc. On the other hand, standards that have long been appreciated by fans are the iconic Hayabusa Kanji decorations on the fairing and the passenger cushion cover in the form of an aerodynamic hump.

Hayabusa as a limited edition for 19,000 euros

In mid-July 2023, Suzuki presented the Hayabusa 25th Anniversary Edition. This limited edition is to be distributed to a total of 7 countries, including the USA and – of course – Japan. 300 specimens are planned for the homeland of the peregrine falcon. In Germany there should only be 50 copies of the anniversary edition, from September 2023 for 19,000 euros each. Compared to the basic model for currently 18,500 euros, this is only 500 euros more.

Attractive collectibles for fans. I would also like something special. Just a money-making business. Standard is cheaper.

The Hayabusa 25th Anniversary Edition is Suzuki’s homage to their own flagship. Technically, the current, third Hayabusa generation remains unchanged as the basis for this, i.e. with a 1,340 cc and 190 hp in-line four-cylinder engine, high-speed chassis and modern electronics. On the outside, the special anniversary model is adorned with the color combination of “Glass Blaze Orange” and “Glass Sparkle Black” as well as gold-colored anodized details and specific markings.
