Chairman of the Islamic Defenders Front (REIT) The city of Pekanbaru Husni Thamrin is said to be undergoing an examination at the Pekanbaru Police, Tuesday (24/11).
Previously, he was picked up by officers on Tuesday (24/11) at around 04.00 WIB, and immediately taken to the Pekanbaru Police Headquarters.
“It is true, at this time we are still intensively examining one of the heads of mass organizations,” said Kapolresta Pekanbaru, Kombes Pol Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, to reporters, Tuesday (24/11).
He was questioned after forcibly dissolving the Declaration of 45 Elements of Social Organizations that refused the arrival of FPI leader Rizieq Shihab to Pekanbaru, in front of the Riau Governor’s Office, on Monday (23/11).
At that time, 45 community organizations (Ormas), youth organizations (OKP), religious organizations such as MUI Pekanbaru City, PWNU, Pemuda Pancasila, several interfaith organizations from Christianity, Catholicism, Confucianism and the Student Executive Board (BEM) throughout Riau staged a demonstration at the gate of the Governor of Riau’s office.
They stated that they rejected Rizieq Shihab’s presence in Bumi Lancang Kuning and expressed support for the tough action of TNI-Polri soldiers against radical people or groups that would divide the unity and integrity of the nation.
Kapolresta said Husni Thamrin was questioned after reports from other mass organizations claimed they were not happy with FPI’s presence.
“At the time of the declaration, 45 figures from this mass organization group suddenly committed the action. After that we received the report and then we made an arrest,” he said.
“They are suspected of making threats of violence, obstructing the right of citizens to express opinions in public that have met the provisions of the law or are suspected of criminal acts of unpleasant acts,” continued Nandang.
Apart from Husni Thamrin, the police also investigated another member.
“In the examination there were two people, but we also examined several witnesses. The examination is still ongoing while developing the possibility of other suspects,” he said.
It is known that a number of actions against Rizieq Shihab took place in several cities, such as Bandung and Surabaya. From Jakarta, Pangdam Jaya Maj. Gen. Dudung Abdurachman put Rizieq’s billboards in order and mentioned the matter of disbanding FPI if necessary.
