Suspect of murder in Surinamese shisha lounge fired in ‘self-defense’ | Inland

Dafnon van der M. shot 28-year-old Roberto Kida with a few shots in the chest. He said this was done in self-defense. Kida and a group of friends are said to have argued in the shisha lounge. After he left the lounge, Kida also got into an argument with someone outside.

According to his lawyer, Dafnon van der M. was charged with keeping order in the PP ShiSha Lounge. The suspect says he closed the shutters of the bar and tried to keep Kida out. “I did everything I could to prevent it from getting out of hand, but it came to me,” he told the court on Friday.

Roberto Kida threw in a garbage can, on which Dafnon van der M. says he fired a few warning shots before he fired a target.

Emotions

According to his lawyer, there are very different, more flexible rules for severe weather and severe weather excess in Suriname. The latter is the use of too much violence as a result of strong emotions. “If someone climbs over your fence and does it again, you can shoot according to Surinamese law. Dafnon van der M. has the misfortune that his trial takes place in the wrong country,” said his lawyer.

Suriname asked the Netherlands in 2018 to take over the criminal prosecution. Dafnon van der M. turned out to be stuck in France in connection with a drug transport. He was sentenced to five years and after serving most of his sentence, he was handed over to the Netherlands.

The Dutch Public Prosecution Service is prosecuting him for murder or manslaughter and possession of a firearm. The Public Prosecution Service does not believe in Dafnon van der M.’s defense.

Notorious bar

The bar where the murder was committed is the PP ShiSha Lounge in North Paramaribo. In this case, the well-known Amsterdam criminal Marchano Pocorni (37) was murdered in March 2015. Pocorni had previously escaped liquidation in Amsterdam.
