Suicides increase during Kovid period; Japan appoints ‘loneliness minister’ for solution rise in suicides during Covid times Japan appoints ‘Minister for Loneliness’ after

TOKYO: Kovid and Lok Down have not had a significant impact on people’s social lives and mental health.

Many people commit suicide because of the anxiety and stress caused by the isolation and loneliness they experienced during Covid’s time. Japan has the highest number of suicides reported today.

The Japanese government has appointed a new cabinet-level minister to address the issue and appease the country’s low suicide rate. The new minister was appointed in early February as Mr. of Loneliness. Tetsushi Sakamoto is in charge.

During the Kovid era, the suicide rate in the country was at an all-time high of 11 years. The department is responsible for taking steps to reduce the loneliness and mental stress of the people.

Sakamoto said Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga had instructed him to take necessary action with special emphasis on the issue of increasing suicide rates among women and to do the necessary things to avoid loneliness and isolation.

Most of the suicides in Japan last year were by women. Women are more likely than men to experience stress due to self-monitoring and quarantine.

The minister was also appointed by the British government in 2018 to address the psychological problems faced by the elderly.
