In his study, researchers conducted a study at two hospitals in Boston on 192 children and adolescents aged 0-22 years.
Researchers found 49 children infected with Covid-19 and 18 children had a multisystem disease-inflammatory syndrome associated with Covid-19.

Unexpectedly, the researchers also found that children who were admitted to hospital had higher levels of the coronavirus in the airways, especially in the first two days of infection, compared to adults.
These results are certainly surprising, because high levels of the virus have the potential to spread more viruses so that the risk of transmission is also greater.
Although this study did not check coronavirus transmission directly, the findings also suggest that children may be undetected sources of the spread of the virus.
Furthermore, researchers said that children infected with Covid-19 only showed mild or no symptoms. This makes infection control strategies that much more difficult.

“Without infection control measures like these, there is a significant risk that the pandemic will continue and children can carry the virus into the home, putting adults at a higher risk of developing severe disease,” said Fasano.
He also added that studies provide facts for policy makers to make the best decisions for places that serve children, such as schools or day care centers.
