TRIBUNNEWS.COM, ARIZONA – The corona virus epidemic happened in East Asia more than 20,000 years ago.

The event is even similar to the Covid-19 pandemic that is sweeping the world today.

This was revealed in an international study of the human genome.

The study found that the outbreak left its mark in the genetic makeup of people from East Asia, an area that now includes countries such as China, Japan, Mongolia, North Korea, South Korea and Taiwan.

As revealed by researchers from Queensland University of Technology, University of Adelaide, University of California San Francisco, and University of Arizona.

“The modern human genome contains evolutionary information that traces back tens of thousands of years, such as studying the tree’s genealogy which gives us insight into the conditions under which it grew,” said Professor Kirill Alexandrov of the CSIRO-QUT Synthetic Biology Alliance.

Quoted from The Tribune of India page, Friday (6/25/2021), in the last 20 years, the corona virus has been responsible for the occurrence of three major outbreaks of SARS-CoV that lead to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome.
