Around 2:00 a.m. this Saturday, Carabineros personnel together with members of the Municipality of Santiago continued with the work of eviction of awnings installed on public roads in the Meiggs neighborhood.
The authorities removed the stalls and other species located mainly in the San Antonio street.

Major Gorka Verde, head of the Mitigation service in Meiggs, pointed out that his unit worked to “provide security to the personnel of the Municipality of Santiago so that they proceed to carry out the removal of awnings and metal structures”.
“This is part of a plan that is being generated by the institution, and that is not only the withdrawal, but later a takeover by Carabineros to maintain cleanliness and security in the Meiggs neighborhood,” added the uniformed officer.
Unlike on Friday, when even a saber was seized, there were no clashes between police officers and merchants.
