Darja Smirnova and Georg Sarkisyan will perform violin solos at the concert. The conductor is Tarmo Peltokoski, the artistic director of the orchestra. The concert the day before – on March 31 – in Riga, in the Great Guild, is already sold out.

“LNSO, Peltokoski, Strauss and Schnittke” will be a reunion with the orchestra’s artistic director and chief conductor Tarmo Peltokoski, whom the public got to know in the autumn-winter concert edition. On March 31, the concert will be performed in Riga, in the Great Guild, where all the audience seats are already occupied, therefore, on April 1, going to Ventspils and the concert hall “Latvija” offers another opportunity to listen to the compositions of Rihards Strauss and Alfred Šnitke performed by the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, in addition led by conductor Tarmo Peltokoski, who will take the stage of the “Latvija” concert hall for the first time.

As the representatives of the “Latvija” concert hall inform “Delfi”, it will be possible to get to know Richard Strauss’s symphonic music opus at the concert. Don Juan’s portrayal, compared to Mozart’s portrayal a hundred years ago, here reveals new nuances about the insatiable lover. The symphonic fantasy from the symbolic opera “Shadowless Woman”, which the composer himself called “the last romantic opera”, will also be performed. On the other hand, the suite “Cavalier of Roses” will conjure up 18th century Vienna through the prism of comedy and exaggerated melancholy.

In the pages of Alfred Šnitke’s Third “Concerto grosso” score, listeners will witness a musical collision between history and the present. Concertmaster of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra Georgs Sarkisyans and violinist Darja Smirnova will play the main roles in it.

Since 2007, Darja Smirnova has been the deputy concertmaster of the LNSO I violin group and since 2002 the first violin and soloist in the chamber orchestra “Sinfonia concertante” and is also one of the initiators of its creation.

Georgy Sarkisyan, on the other hand, has been the concertmaster of the LNSO since 2015, which he combines with playing in German orchestras and various chamber ensembles. Twice – in 2016 and 2021 – nominated for the Great Music Award. He has performed as a soloist with the symphony orchestras of Dusseldorf, the Robert Schuman Academy of Music, the Bonn Classical Philharmonic Orchestra, the State Youth Orchestra of North Rhine-Westphalia and others.

Tickets for the concert can be purchased at the ticket offices of “Bilešu Paradise”..
