Live feed video recording of International Space Station (ISS) recently went viral on Reddit. The video shows a mysterious swarm of light seen hovering close to the ISS.
The video was uploaded on r/UFO, one of the forums about UFO biggest on Reddit. In the video, you can see two very bright light clusters moving from the left of the screen to the right of the screen.
“Can someone explain what I just saw in the ISS YouTube live feed?” asked Reddit user u/tyrannosnorlax in the forum, as quoted from Futurism, Saturday (17/7/2021).
Although it looks like a swarm of UFOs ready to invade Earth, it turns out that the collection of light is not a space object. The ISS camera that took the video was pointing at Earth and the light was human activity on Earth.
More accurately, the swarms of light may have come from a squid-finding boat troupe that uses super-bright lights to attract the attention of their prey, Reddit user u/AlphazeroOneTwo explained in reply.
In a blog post uploaded in 2013, NASA explained this phenomenon of fishing boat lights using photos taken by ISS astronauts as examples.
“The fishermen likely pulled Todarodes pacificus — a species known as the Japanese flying squid — to the surface using a bright xenon lamp,” NASA wrote on its blog.

After finding out for themselves, u/tyrannosnorlax also admitted the light he saw was most likely from a fishing boat and not an apparition. UFO.
“Although the first site linked in the first update has several examples that look similar to this, the squid fishing lamp is the most plausible explanation, so far,” he said.

The US intelligence agency recently released the results of its investigation of the alleged UFO sightings. In their report, they could not explain the origin of the object in the sighting.
