ALEXANDRIA. A real storm, with thunder and lightning, hail, crashed tonight August 1 on the city of Alexandria, forcing customers of the bars and passers-by to run away and take refuge indoors. Not only on Alessandria because during the evening bad weather affected the whole province: from Novese to Tortonese, in Valenzano, in Casalese.
As the hours passed, the damage that was feared was recorded: dozens of calls to the firefighters. Especially for flooding, but not only. In Alessandria in via Ferraris, a portion of the roof of a building fell on the cars parked nearby. A tree fell in the Pista district. Another tree fallen in via Tortona has cut a light cable. Roofs of condominiums and branches and trees cut down, also in Alessandria, in Piazza Genova. Cars parked overwhelmed by the branches and trees themselves.
But damage is also reported in the villages, in San Salvatore Monferrato, Castellazzo, Castelnuovo Scrivia but the list is constantly updated.
The evening seemed only warm and with many mosquitoes. Then around 9 in Alexandria a strong wind rose. In front of the Amalfi Coast, a pizzeria in the center in front of the prison and next to the hospital, there were at least fifteen tables. In a few minutes a real tropical storm, with hail: the branches of the trees broken like twigs fell fortunately only inside Don Soria square. The customers of the pizzeria took refuge inside bringing pizza and beer.
