Stopping Russia’s Bomber Fleet in Europe, NATO sends fighter jets 10 times a day

BRUSSELS – NATO deployed fighter jets up to 10 times Monday to track and intercept a fleet of bombers and fighter jets Russia which flew over the North Sea, the Black Sea, and the Baltic Sea.

This is a “rare peak” of the presence of a large fleet of Russian fighter jets in several European regions at once in a day, according to a NATO official.

“NATO aircraft intercepted six different groups of Russian military aircraft near the alliance’s airspace in less than six hours,” said a NATO statement, reported by the Saudi Gazette.

Russian activity in the enormous territory of European skies occurred the same day North American Aerospace Defense Command said it was tracking Russian aircraft off the coast of Alaska.

None of the Russian warplanes entered the national airspace of NATO countries in Europe and the interception was deemed safe. But the NATO statement detailed the highly suspicious and unusual activity.
