Still Desperate to Overseas? Quarantine can be up to 14 days you know

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan emphasized that the government was reviewing the mandatory 14-day quarantine for Indonesian citizens (WNI) who had just traveled from the list of countries whose foreign nationals (WNA) were still prohibited from entering Indonesia.

Luhut said the 14-day quarantine could be carried out to prevent the spread of the Omicron variant in Indonesia. Currently, the provisions that still apply are mandatory quarantine for 10 days from the previous 7 days.

“That’s why from the meeting, we considered the quarantine period to be 14 days if the spread of Omicron spreads, I repeat, the government considers it to be 14 days if the spread of Omicron expands,” he said at a press conference, Monday (12/20/2021).

Therefore, he also appealed to the public not to travel abroad for the time being.

“We urge you not to travel abroad that is not essential… I beg you to refrain. Don’t repeat the tense period last July,” he said.

He said 90 countries had been infected with the Omicron variant, including Indonesia. The government still prohibits the entry of foreigners from a number of countries to Indonesia. Following the latest developments, the government will also expand the ban on the entry of foreigners from the UK (UK), Norway, Denmark, and remove Hong Kong from the list.

Previously, the government mentioned that there were 11 countries whose foreigners came from these countries, including South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Mozambique, Eswatini, Malawi, Angola, Zambia and Hong Kong. However, it has now removed Hong Kong from the list.
