States General of Conte, the no of Salvini, Meloni and Tajani: we will not be there

The center-right – Lega, Fratelli d’Italia and Forza Italia – would have decided not to participate in the States General, the meeting launched by the Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte to devise a strategy to relaunch the country after the Covid emergency and organized a Villa Pamphili. The decision – not yet formalized – emerged, according to some sources, during the summit between the leaders of the three parties: Matteo Salvini, Giorgia Meloni and Antonio Tajani. The meeting has not yet ended. The three parties would reiterate that they were ready to confront the government at any time, but only on occasions and institutional venues. On Tuesday evening, Silvio Berlusconi – founder of Forza Italia – had expressed himself in favor of the participation of the center-right in the meeting.

The idea of ​​a meeting open to various actors, both institutional and non-institutional, to plan the recovery had been announced by the Prime Minister during the press conference on June 3. Among the guests, according to the premier, also brilliant minds, such as Renzo Piano, Massimiliano Fuksas, Stefano Boeri, Oscar Farinetti. Over the following days, several critical issues emerged – both within the majority, and as seen from outside – on the formula of the General States and their duration (which, according to the premier, should not exceed three days: next Thursday, Friday and Saturday, while for the Democratic Party, which is part of the majority, it should extend the period of listening to companies, productive categories, unions and opposition forces to at least two or three weeks).

The prime minister is planning to get there with a written summary document of the various proposals, starting with the dossier of the Vittorio Colao group, examined in recent weeks. Three – as announced – the cornerstones of this summary: the simplification dossier, the revitalization of the infrastructures and the extension of theHigh speedincentives for investments.
