Residents of the airport should keep windows closed

The international Libya conference follows on Sunday. This takes place in the area of ​​the Cité Guynemer, i.e. in Reinickendorf. The high-ranking politicians are, however, accompanied by police through the city.

“Due to the high security needs of the guests, there will probably be delays in passing or driving all day on Sunday, January 19, 2020 as part of a security-related access regulation to the military part of the airport,” said the police.

In addition, it will be mainly from Saturday to Monday around Tegel Airport and in the government district Give restrictions. No vehicles may be parked in many streets. The police guard hotels and embassies in which the state guests stay.

Residents of the airport are warned not to open the windows – so as not to irritate the snipers posted on the roofs. Such instructions had been given when Israeli presidents visited the Holocaust memorial. Residents are asked to have an ID card with them, Otisstraße will be closed.

Also shipping traffic in the amount of the Federal Chancellery will be interrupted. The airspace over Berlin is blocked for private planes. Several thousand police officers are also deployed at the weekend.

According to the Federal Foreign Office, in addition to the five permanent members of the Security Council (United States, Russia, Great Britain, France and China) also Italy, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Egypt, Algeria and the Republic of the Congo.

In addition to the United Nations and the European Union, the African Union and the Arab League are also invited. Libyan Prime Minister Fayez Al Sarraj and General Chalifa Haftar are also invited to Berlin. From a police point of view, this is a major operation.

A smaller demonstration and several rallies for the Libya conference at the Reichstag, on Straße des 17. Juni and at Potsdamer Platz provide additional traffic disabilities. Motorists should avoid the city center on Sunday due to traffic problems, the police recommended.
