State Court of Justice: lawsuits against corona special funds

RTL.de>news>

Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) – The Hessian State Court is negotiating this Wednesday (11.00 a.m.) in Wiesbaden on two lawsuits against the state’s Corona special fund. Members of the parliamentary groups of the SPD and FDP had submitted a norm review application against the corresponding law “Secure Hesse’s good future” in November 2020, the AfD parliamentary group in March this year.

“The applicants are of the opinion that the Good Future Security Act is unconstitutional because it violates budgetary constitutional principles, the state parliament’s budget law and the prohibition of new borrowing,” the court explained. The hearing is to take place in the external courtroom on a festival site.

In the summer of 2020, the state parliament passed a special fund of twelve billion euros with the votes of the government factions of the CDU and the Greens. It is intended to mitigate the consequences of the corona crisis. Loans can be taken out until the end of 2023, for example to offset tax losses for the state and municipalities. The opposition had spoken out in favor of supplementary budgets to deal with the corona costs.
