Juliane Bogner-Strauß, under turquoise blue still family minister, has now taken over the educational agendas in Styria. In a letter to parents, she herself made eleven (!) Mistakes.
Bogner-Strauß: “Big Challenges”
In that letter to parents and legal guardians, she referred to the Corona crisis in Austria and stated that it was dust-dry that the current situation posed great challenges for us all. “This,” says Bogner-Strauß, “also includes the compatibility of work and family.”
Eleven errors on 17 lines
These first two empty sentences are still accident-free, the following five paragraphs are riddled with spelling and comma errors. There are a total of eleven, not including word repetitions. What particularly catches the eye: the courtesy – sorry, the polite form – the lady obviously does not have it this way: eight typographical errors go back to lower-case title pronouns.
Parents are stigmatized
The passage provides great annoyance for many parents who have to go back to work or keep a cool head in their home office, that according to the Styrian State Councilor for Education, children should be looked after “as far as possible at home”. Bogner-Strauß therefore asks “not to take this offer lightly”. The VP politician does not seem to have much to do with the fact that – especially in the country where everyone knows everyone – parents who bring their children to kindergarten are stigmatized. “Falter” journalist Barbara Tóth picked up the letter on Twitter and also criticized the lack of uniformity in Austria: “This is what it looks like if there are no nationwide mandatory standards for corona care in kindergarten.”
